Hymans Robertson Investment Services (HRIS) has launched a standalone income portfolio as part of its Core range, aiming to help advisers meet changing client planning needs.
HRIS Income is an institutional-grade income solution seeking to support a wide range of client planning needs, which was designed following discussions with advisers.
The discretionary fund manager noted that the advice landscape was undergoing significant changes to demographics and taxation, while intergenerational wealth was growing in importance.
It argued this had created a broader role for income-focused investment, particularly as advisers sought to help their clients achieve lasting financial security and positive outcomes in retirement.
HRIS Income has been designed to provide a natural yield from the underlying investments and give advisers more flexibility in how income can be incorporated into clients’ financial plans.
The firm said it can help in various scenarios, such as generating income, gifting excess income to family members, or drawing income from non-pension savings as part of a wider tax and estate-planning strategy.
The portfolio also aims to support the increasing focus on intergenerational wealth planning.
“Our starting point is always our adviser partners,” said HRIS head of key accounts, Kate Rainbow.
“This new portfolio has come directly from spending time with our clients, listening to what they’re seeing and understanding what they need to deliver the best possible outcomes for their clients.
“The advice landscape is changing significantly. Shifting demographics, taxation and the growing importance of intergenerational wealth planning are creating a much broader need for income-focused solutions.
“The changing IHT treatment of pensions is a good example advisers are constantly thinking about how they can optimise outcomes for their clients. Increasingly, that means helping clients to think differently about how they use their wealth during their lifetime and where they draw income from.
“We wanted to create a portfolio that gives advisers greater flexibility to support those conversations, whether that’s around gifting, trust planning, drawing income from different assets, or incorporating income into a broader tax and estate-planning strategy.”
