AJ Bell has appointed Charlie Musson as chief product officer.
In the newly created role, Musson will oversee the development and growth of AJ Bell’s dual-channel platform proposition across both the advised and direct-to-consumer (D2C) markets. Musson is currently managing director of AJ Bell’s D2C platform business and will take up his new role on 1 May 2026. He has been with AJ Bell for over a decade, leading the development of AJ Bell’s brand and D2C platform proposition. His career in the platform market spans 25 years in total, including a 10-year stint at Quilter prior to AJ Bell. His appointment comes as Billy Mackay retires from his role as managing director of AJ Bell’s advised platform business on 1 May. Mackay will remain with the business as an executive consultant, providing ongoing strategic input into the development of AJ Bell’s proposition for advisers and continue to develop AJ Bell’s collaboration with adviser firms.
Private bank Weatherbys has named Aileen Wallace as a non-executive director.
The appointment forms part of the private bank’s ‘100% human, 100% digital’ strategy. Wallace brings more than three decades of experience in banking and technology, having previously held senior positions with Virgin Money, Cognizant and the Co-operative Bank. Her non-executive portfolio has included roles with International Personal Finance plc, Tandem Bank, Columbia Threadneedle, Target Tech Mahindra, Hodge Bank and as chair of fintech advisory for a property ownership fintech.
The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has appointed Sapna Shah as its chair.
The appointment took immediate effect following the AIC’s annual general meeting. Shah joined the AIC board in 2021, was appointed deputy chair in January 2024, and is a member of the Remuneration Committee. She is a senior adviser at Panmure Liberum, having previously been co-head of the investment companies team. Prior to this, she held senior roles at Cenkos Securities and Stifel after beginning her career with UBS. She is non-executive director of BioPharma Credit, Pantheon Infrastructure, and BlackRock Greater Europe Investment Trust, and senior independent non-executive director of Supermarket Income REIT. The AIC also elected Alison Jefferis to join the board as non-executive director, whlie Stephanie Coxon and Cathy Pitt were re-elected as non-executive directors. Gay Collins and Francesca Ecsery, who was former chair of the Remuneration Committee, have both retired from the board after six years of service.
