People moves: Quilter Cheviot, Nucleus, and AJ Bell

Quilter Cheviot has appointed Fergus Caheny as head of London and Louise Williams as finance director.

Caheny will join Quilter Cheviot in January 2027 from Evelyn Partners, where he has been a managing partner for the past four years. He brings more than 30 years’ experience and will also join the Quilter Cheviot executive committee, reporting to CEO, John Goddard. Caheny will succeed Nigel Crawford, who has decided to retire in 2027 following a long career with Quilter Cheviot. Williams will join the firm in November from Aberdeen Adviser, where she was chief financial officer. She rejoins the Quilter Group, having previously held senior finance positions within Quilter plc, and will also join Quilter Cheviot’s executive committee. Meanwhile, Quilter Cheviot chief financial & operating officer, Paul Barnacle, has decided to leave the firm after 20 years with the business. He will remain with Quilter Cheviot for a transition period, with a recruitment process for a new chief operating officer underway.

Nucleus Financial Platforms has named Dave Reynolds as chief technology officer (CTO).

Reynolds will join from Quilter at the start of January and will be part of the group’s executive committee. He replaces Jenny Thorpe who will leave at the end of 2026 to take up a new job. Nucleus said it was extending the remit of the CTO role to include transformation and change, as well as technology, across the group. Reynolds has over two decades of senior-level experience working globally in the financial services sector. He’s currently group chief information officer at Quilter and was previously group CTO for eight years.

AJ Bell has appointed Andrew Donald as investment sales director.

In the newly created role, Donald will lead adviser sales of AJ Bell’s suite of investment solutions, including the distribution of its managed portfolio service and range of funds across the platform market. He was at 7IM for over 18 years working across strategic partnerships and business development, and also previously held roles at Selestia (now part of Quilter).
