Titan Wealth has launched an academy aimed at developing a new generation of advisers by broadening access to financial planning careers to people from a wider range of backgrounds.
The firm said the Titan Wealth Academy would help financial planners look more like the people and communities they serve.
Its talent development initiative is a six-month programme that will provide participants with practical training and professional qualifications.
The first three months will consist of working towards key qualifications, before progressing to advice systems and processes.
This will be done alongside training for the people-facing aspect of the job though client meeting observation, network events attendance, building professional relationships, and delivering presentations.
Its initial cohort consists of eight participants who have had no previous experience in providing financial advice.
Seven of the first wave have moved into the academy from existing roles at Titan Wealth, including paraplanning and administration.
Titan Wealth said the academy was designed to help tackle some of the barriers that can prevent people from entering the advice profession, particularly those from less-advantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.
Participants will also be paid while they study, receive weekly revision support, and benefit from a framework of mentoring and practical experience.
“Financial planning has the potential to be an incredibly rewarding career where people can make a genuine difference to the lives of their clients,” said Titan Wealth Academy head, Pavitar Padam.
“There are still barriers that can make the profession difficult to enter and we want to change that.
“Talent and ambition exist everywhere, and the industry should do more to create routes for people from different socioeconomic backgrounds and with different life experiences to build successful careers in financial planning.
“By investing in people who have the aptitude, determination and desire to help others, we can broaden access to the profession while developing excellent planners for the future.”
