Zopa launches targeted support offering

Digital bank Zopa has launched a targeted support offering for its investment customers.

It was the first bank in the UK to receive regulatory approval to offer the service, which aims to bridge the gap between financial guidance and advice, in May 2026.

The Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) targeted support framework came into effect on 6 April 2026 and enables firms to offer tailored recommendations to groups of consumers with similar characteristics.

As Zopa investment customers onboard, they can opt for help choosing an investment fund by answering questions that assess their investor type, attitude to risk, confidence in decision making, and response to uncertainty.

Based on their responses and how people with similar profiles have invested, Zopa then recommends a fund it believes is suited to their investment profile.

“We’ve seen a persistent gap between people’s intention to invest and their confidence to take that first step, even when they have meaningful cash savings,” said Zopa Bank chief strategy officer, Merve Ferrero.

“Too many consumers are unsure whether investing is right for them, whether they can make good decisions, or how much risk they should take.

“Our targeted support service is designed to close that gap, giving first-time investors the confidence and clarity to get started and make their money work harder — with greater peace of mind.”
