Atomos agrees acquisition of MWA Financial

Wealth management business Atomos has agreed to acquire financial planning firm MWA Financial for an undisclosed amount.

The transaction will merge MWA Financial with Atomos, combining two ‘aligned businesses’ to expand Atomos’s national footprint.

MWA Financial was launched by chief executive, Cam Banks, in 2016 and has around £950m in assets under advice (AUA).

The firms said they shared a belief in holistic advice, long-term stewardship of client wealth, and the importance of investing in people, technology, and innovation to meet the developing needs of clients.

The transaction aims to bring together Atomos’s scale, institutional investment capabilities, and operational infrastructure with MWA Financial’s entrepreneurial culture, growth mindset, and financial planning capabilities.

Atomos was advised on the deal by Fenchurch Advisory Partners and CMS Legal.

“We are delighted to be joining Atomos at such an exciting stage of its journey,” said MWA Financial founder and CEO, Cam Banks.

“The opportunity to work alongside Jonathan Polin, Niral Parekh and the wider team was a major attraction for us.

“Atomos has a clear ambition to build one of the UK's leading financial planning businesses, combining high-quality advice, strong client outcomes and the scale to invest in the future. I'm looking forward to playing my part in delivering that vision."

Atomos CEO, Jonathan Polin, added: “MWA has built an exceptional business with a strong culture, outstanding people, and a clear commitment to delivering high-quality financial planning.

“From our first conversations, it was clear that we shared a common vision for the future of advice and what a modern planning business should look like.”

Atomos is majority owned by Oaktree, with its European group principal, Federico Alverez-Demalde, stating that Oaktree was “delighted” that MWA Financial has chosen to join Atomos.
