Hoxton Wealth secures £100m PE investment

Hoxton Wealth has secured £100m of funding from private equity firm Aspirity Partners through a strategic minority investment.

The investment is the first external capital raised by the wealth management firm since it was founded by Chris Ball in 2018, with Ball retaining a majority shareholding following the transaction.

The funding will aim to support Hoxton’s sustainable growth plans, including continued international expansion, the recruitment of advisers and planners, investment in senior leadership and processes, and acquisitions.

It will also enable the firm to continue investing in its proprietary technology that forms the foundation of its operations.

Hoxton was advised by Continuum Advisory Partners, who served as financial adviser, and Proskauer, who served as legal counsel.

Ardea Partners served as exclusive financial adviser and Dechert served as legal counsel to Aspirity.

The completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.

“From humble beginnings to our first external investment, this is a defining moment for Hoxton, and choosing the right partner mattered enormously,” said Hoxton Wealth founder and CEO, Chris Ball.

“I am so proud of what our team has built on its own, and Aspirity gives us the backing to pursue our ambitions with real conviction.

“One of the most exciting things about working with Aspirity is being able to tap into their innovators and leaders, some of the most experienced people in our profession.

“That experience will benefit our team directly and, above all, the clients we serve as the business grows.”

Aspirity Partners founder and managing partner, Joseph O’Mara, added: “We are pleased to be partnering with Chris and the Hoxton team.

“Chris has built a substantial business since founding Hoxton, and we look forward to supporting its next phase of disciplined growth as it continues to strengthen its platform and deliver high-quality advice to internationally mobile clients.

“Hoxton is closely aligned with our strategy: a founder-led business serving a structurally attractive market, with strong financial characteristics and a clear focus on service quality.

“Chris and the team have grown the business to this point without external capital. We have spent almost a year getting to know Hoxton and believe Aspirity can support its next phase as it continues to use technology to serve internationally mobile clients.”
