Amati Global Investors has completed the buyout of Mattioli Woods’ 49 per cent stake in the company to become an independent firm.
Mattioli Woods has partnered with the fund management company for eight years, with the wealth management firm having acquired its stake in 2017.
The financial details of the share buyout were not disclosed.
“We are delighted to be a fully independent, employee-owned, investor-led fund management firm once again,” commented Amati CEO, Dr. Paul Jourdan.
“With fully aligned and incentivised teams and a strong and scalable platform for growth, we go into 2026 with renewed vigour and confidence.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues at Mattioli Woods for their partnership and support over the past eight years.”
Alongside the buyout announcement, Amati provided an update on its funds.
The fund manager continued to view the UK smaller companies asset class with optimism for the opportunities it presents to investors and its role in clients’ portfolios.
It has appointed Gregor Paterson as a fund manager for the WS Amati UK Listed Smaller Companies Fund and Amati AIM IHT Portfolio Service.
Paterson has been working with Amati since July 2024 as an analyst and has more than 25 years of experience in UK small- and mid-cap equities.
"The UK stock market has been going through difficult times for a number of years now, with continuing outflows and ongoing government policy uncertainty,” Jourdan said.
“However, history suggests that these trends do not last forever. Neglected UK small caps are now offering a myriad of compelling investment opportunities.
“Long-term outperformance of UK smaller companies versus large caps has been a feature since 1955, and we believe the current situation creates the potential for a sharp improvement in returns for the asset class and our UK Listed Smaller Companies Fund.”
The firm also appointed Strategic Metals Fund fund manager, Georges Lequime, and Global Innovation Fund fund manager, Mikhail Zverev, to the Amati board.
