Evelyn Partners has appointed Philip Lewis to the newly created position of head of financial planning advice.

Lewis joins the firm from Fisher Investments UK where he spent eight years, most recently with oversight of UK advice and suitability. In the new position at Evelyn Partners, Lewis will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning advice. This will include leading regulatory and operational projects to enhance processes, producing strategic plans to drive improvements, delivering training programmes, and hosting client events.

The Investment Association (IA) has named State Street Investment Management executive vice president and head of EMEA, Ann Prendergast, as the new chair of its board of directors.

Prendergast, who originally joined the IA board in May 2024, will replace J.P. Morgan Asset Management CEO, EMEA, Patrick Thomson, as chair at the next AGM. She has more than 30 years of experience in the investment management industry, including 20 years at State Street Investment Management. As chair of the IA board, Prendergast will be responsible for promoting the investment management industry and the role it plays in driving economic growth and building the financial resilience of UK households.

Discretionary fund manager Sparrows Capital has appointed Phillip Young as deputy chief investment officer.

Young joined Sparrows Capital in 2022 and was previously an investment analyst. Prior to joining the firm, he spent more than eight years at Wealth at Work as an investment analyst. He also worked at Rathbones for six years as an investment administrator. In his new role of deputy chief investment officer, Young will be working alongside Raymond Backreedy, who has been Sparrows Capital chief investment officer since 2017.
