People moves: Standard Chartered, Charles Stanley, and the Financial Ombudsman Service

Standard Chartered has appointed Jason Forrester as its new group chief risk officer.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval, after which a formal start date will be agreed. Forrester joined the firm five years ago and is currently co-head, chief risk officer, corporate & investment banking. He previously worked at Credit Suisse for 21 years in several senior risk and finance management roles in America, Europe, and Asia. Forrester replaces Sadia Ricke, who has decided to leave the firm, with Ricke expected to leave at the end of the year following a period of transition.

Charles Stanley has expanded its intermediary sales team with the appointment of three new business development managers.

Amanda Hallam, Lee Jones, and Charlotte Woodward have been appointed to develop new and existing relationships with independent financial advisers in the UK. Hallam joins from Multifonds-Temenos where she was regional sales manager for funds, having previously held senior roles at Investec, St James’ Place and JP Morgan. Woodward joins from EdenTree Investment Management, where she spent four years as regional sales manager, following business development roles at James Hay Partnership and Verbatim Asset Management. Jones joins from Morningstar, where he worked as business development manager across its model portfolio services and multi-asset solutions. Prior to this, he was head of intermediary sales at Arbuthnot Latham.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has appointed Liam Coleman as interim chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Coleman will take up the role on 10 October and has more than 30 years of financial services, public sector, and board experience. He was formerly chief executive officer of The Co-Operative Bank, deputy group treasurer and group head of capital management at The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), and group director, treasury at Nationwide Building Society. He will succeed Baroness Zahida Manzoor CBE, who is stepping down after two terms in the post. Coleman will chair the FOS’s board until a permanent appointment is made, after the initial recruitment campaign proved unsuccessful.
